Insights + tips to help you nurture your child’s intuition.
November 21, 2024
Intuition is your child’s sacred GPS.
Your Child’s Intuition
Children come into the world with a deep intuitive connection — it’s only through modern-day distraction, conditioning, and seeking outer guidance that their intuition can seem to fade to a whisper.
But intuition isn’t something that can break or have a weak signal — it’s always on.
Our role as parents is to ensure that our children understand the power of their intuition, learn how to recognize it and trust its guidance.
A word on Semantics:
I believe the English language would benefit from a whole list of words to describe the nuanced ways our intuition communicates with us.
For now, I’m referring to a distinct inner knowing — a sacred GPS built into all of us.
Children Need Their Intuition Now More Than Ever
Your child’s intuition is vital for them to develop strong self-trust and self-esteem, and to navigate complex situations like a friend or trusted adult asking them to do something that doesn’t feel right.
More recently, Children have gained the ability to ask AI anything and receive an answer — and buckle up, this AI ride is just getting started.
If a child isn’t taught that 1) intuition is their primary source of information, and 2) if they use AI, to also tap into their intuition to see if an answer resonates with them, this technology will steer the direction of their life.
Also, we take in a whole lot of information based on media bias (aka patriarchal, capitalist billionaire bias). Children need to intuitively know if something sounds off, ask questions, and use their discernment and sovereignty to make a decision or form a belief.
Outer Authority VS Inner Authority
In a world where children are conditioned to rely on outer authority (external sources) over inner authority (their inner knowing), cultivating a stronger relationship with intuition is the key to ushering in a new paradigm of personal sovereignty and collective awakening.
And necessary for our children’s safety, security, authenticity, and energetic alignment.

10 Ways You Can Support Your Child’s Intuition
1. Teach your child body awareness
In the Human Design System, the body is where intuition lives.
(When I say body, I’m not discounting the mind because that’s where clairvoyance may feel like it comes from — but I am discounting processing and analysis.)
And just like the body knows how to regrow an eyelash, can sense if someone is looking at it, and can jump into action if it’s in danger, it’s designed to guide your child through life.
You can help them connect with their body simply by switching your language to “What does your body say?” Instead of “What do you think?”
2. Nurture your child’s creativity
Intuition and creativity are inherently similar.
Creativity knows no bounds, it’s wild and it comes from a flow state outside of the confines of mental conditioning.
The more often your children venture into this state, the more natural it will feel to tap into their intuition.
Acknowledge their creativity as a beautiful attribute.
If they aren’t naturally tapping into it often and are more interested in artificial creativity like video games, initiate a role play game, get out some paper and paint, or create a fort.
For an older child, give them a challenge (possibly for a reward) that they’ll need to use their creative mind to solve.
3. Teach your child to honour their feelings
Let “How do you feel?” be another question regularly spoken in your family.
For many children, intuition can be felt as emotion — like a ping of joy or excitement or a sudden rush of discomfort.
Allow them the freedom of not needing to know exactly why they feel they way they feel.
We don’t need to analyze or figure out intuition. We just need to respect emotions as key indicators.
Teach them that if an emotion arises without a memory or thought attached to it, they should honour it as their intuition.
This is especially important for children who have an “Emotional” Inner Authority as part of their Human Design.
4. Teach your child about their Human Design Inner Authority
In the Human Design system, each person has one of 7 dominant ways of tapping into their intuition to make a decision.
I teach techniques to help your child work with theirs in my Human Design for Moms Course — join the other new paradigm moms on the waitlist for a generous VIP discount.
Here’s a simplified way to understand each:
Sacral — tap into their “yes” or “no” sensations in their gut
Splenic — tap into the “ping” or inner knowing in the moment
Emotional — tap in to the feeling of emotional clarity that arises as they move through their emotional wave
Lunar — tap into how they feel as they move through a lunar cycle
Environment/Mental & Self-Projected — allow your intuition to flow through your voice as you talk about a decision
Ego — tune into their heart and what feels good and aligned
5. Get out of the way
When they tell you they feel a particular way or want to make a decision that seems counter to what you believe to be right, allow them to do so.
As moms, of course we have to create safe boundaries for our children but when safety’s not a concern, respect your child’s discernment. This will teach them to do the same.
If your mama’s intuition alarm bell is ringing and you truly feel like it’s not the right choice, talk to them about it.
Ask them where this decision came from. Was it from a thought about the future or a hurt from the past? Or was it from their body?
6. Role model your relationship with your own intuition
Your child learns best from watching you.
To deepen their self-trust and reliance on their intuition, they must see you doing it too.
Using phrases like “I feel,” “My intuition is telling me,” and “My body wants me to…” is positively conditioning your child to do the same.
7. Cultivate nervous system awareness
When your child is having a parasympathetic response to a situation or the overall stress of the day, their bodies aren’t optimally communicating and likely not allowing their intuitive responses to surface.
Teach your children techniques to calm their nervous systems and return to a receiving state.
Also, teach them not to make big decisions while having a stress response. Wait until emotions and overwhelm have eased.
8. Teach them presence and the importance of quiet moments
Intuition happens in the moment and you have to be in that moment to hear it.
You can give your child this example: When they’re playing a video game or watching TV, how often do they miss what you or their siblings say to them?
Take them for a walk in the woods and ask them to listen to what they hear inside and notice any feelings that arise.
9. Teach them intuitive flexibility
Teach your child that intuition isn’t always a forever answer.
It’s a built-in GPS that can only operate in the present. Meaning their current energy and circumstances are informing it.
What it tells them is perfectly right for a particular moment.
But when circumstances change, what’s right for them may change too.
It’s important for them to watch for new intuitive signals and allow their direction to change. Ask them, “What does your body say now?”
10. Teach them about their Super Sense
In Human Design, each child has a super sense. On their chart, it’s called Cognition and it’s either Touch, Taste, Smell, Feeling, Outer Vision, or Inner Vision.
