The Power of Spiritual Practices
Spiritual practices are intentional exercises that help us connect with the infinite love and light available to all of us.
They help brighten our day with more magic, awe, and wonder.
And can help:
- clear our auric/energetic fields
- reduce stress
- remind us of our own light and power
- become more present
- spark intuition
- set daily beautiful intentions.

Ritual vs. Flow
Some spiritual teachers talk about the benefit of ritualistic, non-negotiable spiritual practices.
Others talk about non-attachment, releasing self-discipline, and surrendering to intuitive flow.
I see the beauty and magic in rituals, but I’ve also learned that you must be in the right vibration and mindset for them to benefit you (i.e. they need to suit your lifestyle and feel right in the moment).
Lengthy Spiritual Practices Aren’t for Everyone
As a mother of two little ones, an hour-long spiritual practice doesn’t suit my current lifestyle.
I’ve tried to wake up before my kids to meditate and they’ve surprised me with early wake-ups themselves, naps are now unpredictable, and in the evenings, I work and then I’m off to bed.
This chapter of my life has taught me to surrender to the flow of the day and allow for flexibility when it comes to my spiritual practice.
Just like me, my spiritual practice can be perfectly imperfect.
Micro Spiritual Practices
What gave me the flexibility I needed was to have a handful of micro spiritual practices I could incorporate throughout my day.
I call them “micro” spiritual practices because they take as little as 1 minute.
I realized that for me, duration and ritual are less important than being comfortable, focused, and in alignment with what I’m doing.
Below you’ll find 10 micro spiritual practices you can easily add to your day based on:
- your energy level
- what suits your schedule
- what you feel most aligned with in the moment
1: MINDFUL BREATHING
Spend 1-5 minutes (depending on your time) sitting in stillness and connecting with your breath.
- Place your hands on your heart or your belly (whatever feels right).
- Notice the expansion as you breathe in.
- Notice the emptying as you breathe out.
If you find it challenging to sit in stillness, add a mantra or affirmation.
For example, to become more present in the moment…
Breathe in: “I am here.”
Breathe out: “Here I am.”
2: ORACLE CARD READING
Intuitively select an oracle card deck (if you don’t have one, here are my recommendations), shuffle, then pull one card.
You don’t need to think of a question or do a whole spread. The card that is most aligned with your current energy will choose you.
Take a moment to really connect with the illustration and see if any intuitive insight arises.
You may also want to read the guidebook (if your deck has one) to learn more about the author’s interpretation of the card.
3: LIGHT SHOWER
Anyone who showers has time for this energy-clearing spiritual practice. 😉
1) Before finishing up in the shower, close your eyes and envision the water as light raining down on you. The liquid light drenches your whole body and energetic field bathing you in its pure essence of light, love, and peace. Feel the energy of each droplet.
2) Allow any dense energy or emotion to clear away. Envision it going down the drain. Continue until you intuitively feel your energetic field has been cleansed.
3) Then visualize your body completely lit up and blast the light all around you (approximately 6 feet out). Notice the outline of a bubble of light around you that will continue to clear and protect your energy throughout the day.

4. CRYSTAL SELECTION
If you’re a crystal connoisseur like I am, you likely already select a crystal to pocket or crystal jewelry to wear each day.
You can make this more of a spiritual practice by intuitively selecting the crystal (rather than selecting it based on your outfit), holding it in your hands, connecting with its energy, and setting an intention for the day.
For example, if you’ve chosen a rose quartz crystal bracelet, state “Today I align with your energy to love myself more.”
You can learn how to make your own crystal bracelet in this post.
5: SINGING BOWL
A couple minutes of listening to the revitalizing sound of a singing bowl (Tibetan or crystal) can help you calm your heart, still your mind, and raise your vibration by attuning to its frequency.
If you haven’t used a singing bowl before, you don’t need any musical talent. It’s simply a stirring motion.
(The beauty above can be found here).
6: POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS
Positive affirmations are spoken (in your mind or out loud) statements that help cultivate positive beliefs.
And as a spiritual practice, they can help you step more firmly into your powerful creatrix energy and set an intention for the day.
Such as:
- how you will treat yourself (“Today, I make decisions based on what lights me up and nourishes me.”)
- How you will know yourself (“I am a Lightworker and I choose to shine brightly.”)
- How you will show up and serve (“Today I see what I need to see. Hear what I need to hear. Know what I need to know. And act in the highest good for all.”)
- How the universe will support you (“Thank you universe for supporting me and showing me signs that my goals and desires are on their way.”)
It’s simplest to choose one affirmation for the day and link it to an activity (e.g. repeat it as you brush your teeth).
7: RISING GRATITUDE
I learned this practice from the spiritual teacher Wayne Dyer.
The moment you awaken, before you get out of bed or begin to think about your day, say (in your mind or out loud) “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
This is such a simple gratitude practice, but it reminds you that you are blessed to have another day here on earth. Another day to feel the grass under your feet, the rain on your skin, the warmth of a loved one’s hug. It’s so easy to slip into the instant to-dos of the day without recognizing the gift that it is.
Additionally, I’ve heard that some monks in Tibet have a ritual of placing a cup upside down before bed, then turning it right side up when they awaken. The cup acts as a reminder of the impermanence of life and the gift of a new day.
8: SPIRITUAL READING
Simply reading a couple of pages of a spiritual book is a great practice for a hit of spiritual guidance and inspiration.
And sometimes you can more deeply integrate the wisdom and energy of a spiritual book by reading small amounts of information at a time.
Here are some great spiritual books written in shorter passages:
- Light is the New Black (I’m reading it in the above photo)
- Rise Sister Rise
- The Pocket Thich Nhat Hanh
- The Book of Awakening
- Raise Your Vibration
9: BREATHE IN LIGHT
Take a moment of stillness to visualize a massive golden star above you. Breathe its light into your body and thank your spiritual support team (Creator/Source, guides, angels, Ascended Masters, etc.) for clearing your energetic field.
“Thank you infinite source of all that is for filling me with your light and clearing my energetic field now.”
If you’re sensitive to energy, you may feel some tingling on the crown of your head when you do this.
It’s a simple but powerful way to step into alignment and connection.
10: Use the Aura Scan On Your Healy
If you have a Healy, use the aura analysis to scan your energetic field to see if you have any low or blocked energy.
You can either use the wristbands to run a chakra program while you go about your day, or visualize light flowing into any chakras that need a boost.
If you don’t have a Healy, you can learn more about it here.
11: SLEEP MEDITATION
You can do this spiritual practice in your sleep (literally!).
Sleep meditations help you move into a calm, relaxed, and connected state to blissfully fall asleep.
